The problem with living in a different hemisphere from where I grew up is the assumption that all of you follow the same news that I do, from day to day. The revelation that UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, a special agency created only for Arab refugees from Palestine, was complicit in the October 7th massacre of Jews in Israel, surprised politicians, educators, journalists, and the "elite" in the West. For us living here in Israel, it was common knowledge that UNRWA was the only refugee agency that provided services to refugee descendants generations after the UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency had done its job settling tens of millions of refugees around the World after World War 2. It is common knowledge that UNRWA propagates the refugee myth, with the help of the West, that Arab refugees from Israel's war of independence, a defensive war, in 1948, would someday return "home" at the expense of the Jews.
UNRWA is a proxy cover for Hamas in Gaza and Fatah in the West Bank. The 1.6 billion dollar annual budget is subsidized by the United States and the Europeans, along with a dozen foreign aid agencies. This money went to the training of a generation of Hamas foot soldiers in Gaza who participated in the October 7th pogrom. These terrorists were born in the Gaza strip, evacuated by Israel in 2005, and under Palestinian Arab control since then. This generation, like their parents and grandparents were "carefully taught" by UNRWA teachers that the Jews would eventually be destroyed and their students would one day return to their homes in Jaffa, Akko, and Ramla. While Gaza has been independent of Israel since 2005, it has retained refugee camps. This is also true in the West Bank areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority. The "PA" could be building cities and towns under their rule, but instead maintain the refugee camps as hotbeds for spreading the jihadist terrorist goal of murdering all of us. When they say, as they do that they would repeat October 7th, over and over, they mean it.

Outraged UN officials have named 12 UNRWA Gaza employees who participated in the October 7th massacre, yet don't mention the Telegram group of 6500 Gaza teachers who praised the operation and its success at murdering Jewish men, women, children, and babies. UNRWA teachers are the primary instrument for jihadist and anti-Israel teaching, their curriculum written by Hamas. In fact, UNRWA in the Gaza strip is Hamas. Nobody works in the strip for UNRWA without Hamas approval. Common knowledge in Israel, but not in the rest of the World.

Dr. Einat Wilf, a former IDF intelligence officer, policy adviser to Shimon Perez, and former Knesset member, speaks with Dan Senor on his Call Me Back podcast about the history of Arab violence against the Jews from the fall of the Ottoman Empire, after World War One, leading to October 7th. She discusses the history of UNRWA from its beginnings to the present. Dr. Wilf is very articulate and provides a careful background, and perhaps a ray of hope, if Israel is allowed to complete its destruction of Hamas.

You've Got to be carefully Taught was a song written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein for their musical South Pacific. The duo defended this song, even when accused of communist sympathy, because this song represented their whole intention for their musical to begin with.
